Nepal bans flights to and from the UK from Dec 23 until further notice owing to new strain of COVID-19

KATHMANDU, Dec 22: Nepal has implemented travel restrictions to and from the United Kingdom (UK) owing to the severe contagion of a new strain of the novel coronavirus discovered in the European country.

“Nepal shall not onboard the passengers originating from or transiting through the UK,” reads a statement released by the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal (CAAN) on Tuesday.

The entry restriction will go into effect from the midnight of 23rd December until further notice.

The UK has remained in COVID-19 isolation after much of the world including India, Canada, France, Germany, South Africa cut off travel ties with the country in view of a highly infectious new coronavirus strain.
